About Us
We are a family owned and operated small business. Our home is in Wheatland County, near Strathmore, and all of our homes are built here, using local employees and contractors. Richard is a Deaf journeyman carpenter who oversees the homebuilding process, and Brianne splits her time between project management, raising two young kids, and occasionally doing some work as a sign language interpreter.
How We Give Back
Our oldest child, Jacob, was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Essentially, his left ventricle didn't develop, and he only has half a heart. He had his first of several open heart surgeries at 4 days old, and spent the first 7 months of his life between the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, AB, and Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, AB. During the time he was in Edmonton, we were fortunate to be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House, which has totaled 91 nights (so far).
Our second child, Carter, has also been a patient of the Alberta Children's Hospital, having been born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate. He also continues to undergo multiple staged surgeries to repair the cleft.
Having two medical kids who have spent a lot of time in the hospital has made us very thankful for our healthcare system. We've benefited far more than we'll ever be able to contribute, but we'd like to try and pay it forward by donating a portion of the proceeds from every home sold. Donations will be equally split between the Alberta Children's Hospital, the Stollery Hospital, and the Ronald McDonald House charities. Donations help families with the "extras" beyond basic healthcare, and include (but are not limited to) the following:
A place to stay while your child is in the hospital
Parking costs
Meals & snacks
More comfortable furniture at the bedside
Organizations like Child Life, which helps with activities and toys while children are inpatient
Family rooms, fridges, microwaves, laundry services, etc
Activities and childcare for siblings of the patient
A specialized piece of equipment that's not in the provincial budget
Funding for research projects to improve healthcare
